Thursday, 28 January 2010
WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (Commodity Online): 'Cotton Industry Growth Through Global Unity' is the theme adapted by the Standing Committee of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) for its 69th Plenary.
The Plenary will be held at the invitation of the Government of the United States of America during September 20-25 in Lubbock, Texas.
According to a release by the ICAC, the theme was chosen in recognition of the fact that cotton producers and consumers, the world over face constraints to growth, that producers and consumers in both developed and developing countries face challenges, and that many challenges require coordinated efforts and international cooperation.
Plenary will also discuss how cotton is working to sustain its place in the world market, outlook for cotton and competing commodities, new developments with biotech cotton products, a look back at the results of the elimination of MFA quotas, impacts on cotton of the Uruguay Round and regional trade agreements, energy policies, industry harmonisation and standardisation among many other topics.
