ICC fine England for slow over-rate

CHITTAGONG, Mar 28 (AFP): England have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their World Twenty20 group one match against Sri Lanka in Chittagong, the International Cricket Council said Friday.
England beat world number one T20 side Sri Lanka by six wickets courtesy of a whirlwind 64-ball 116 not out by opener Alex Hales at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Thursday.
"The ICC match referee David Boon of Australia imposed the fines after the side, led by Stuart Broad, was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration," an ICC release said.
Under ICC rules players are fined 10 percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
"If Broad is found guilty of one more minor over-rate offence in T20 internationals over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension as per the provisions of the ICC code for players and support staff," the ICC said.
