Wednesday, 17 January 2018

CENTURION, Jan 16 (AFP): Indian captain Virat Kohli has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee following an altercation with the umpires during the third day of the second Test against South Africa at SuperSport Park on Monday.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the sanction, imposed by match referee Chris Broad, in a statement on Tuesday.
Kohli also received one demerit point for breaching level one of the ICC code of conduct relating to "conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game".
The incident happened in the 25th over of South Africa's second innings when Kohli complained to on-field umpire Michael Gough about the ball being affected by a wet outfield before "throwing the ball into the ground in an aggressive manner".
Kohli pleaded guilty to the charge.
