Iceland President arrives in city

Iceland President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson arrived in Bangladesh Friday evening on a three-day visit to attend the concluding session of an international conference on climate change, an official said, reports bdnew24.com.

President Iajuddin Ahmed received the Iceland President at Zia International Airport.

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson will join the concluding session of the "International Symposium on Climate Change and Food Security", being held at Sonargaon Hotel today (Saturday). The symposium started on August 25.

Dhaka University, Ohio State University, World Meteorological Organisation, UN-ESCAP, and Food and Agriculture Oragnisation (FAO) have jointly organised the six-day programme.

During his visit the Iceland President will have talks with President Iajuddin Ahmed.

He will also go to the national mausoleum at Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War and visit the Sidr-ravaged areas.

The Iceland President will also have a meeting with Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.
