ICMAB for online submission of tax returns

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised a discussion on the forthcoming National Budget-2009-'10 at Ruhul Quddus Auditorium of ICMAB Bhaban in the city recently.
Prime Minister's Adviser Alauddin Ahmed was the chief guest of the programme. The discussion session was presided over by ICMAB President ABM Shamsuddin, says a press release.
The main paper of the discussion was jointly presented by past president of ICMAB Md Abdur Rashid and ICMAB Vice President Abu Sayed Md Shaykhul Islam.
Shaykhul Islam, in his paper, placed a number of recommendations for increasing government's earnings by expanding tax net without increasing tax rate. He suggested introduction of e-filing of tax return as early as possible. He also expressed the opinion that NBR should open its website so that taxpayers could get their assessment status from the website without going to tax office.
Among others, Centre for Policy Dialogue Executive Director Musfafizur Rahman and Unnayon Shamonnoy Chairman Atiur Rahman spoke on the occasion as the special guests. Past President AKM Delwer Hussain and ICMAB Secretary Md Jasim Uddin Akond also spoke on the occasion.
A number of recommendations were placed in connection with the budget for the next fiscal in order to make the budget welfare oriented.
