ICMAB seminar held in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG, Dec 3: The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised a seminar today on "Capital Market- Bangladesh Perspective" at Hotel Peninsula in the city.
Industries minister Dilip Barua addressed the seminar as the chief guest while Abu Bakkar Siddique and Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury were present as session chairmen.
Arif Khan, deputy managing director of IDLC and president of Bangladesh Merchant Banking Association, presented a technical paper on Equity Financing through Capital Market while ICMAB past president and managing director of Island Securities Ltd read out his technical paper on Capital Market Infrastructure in Bangladesh.
Inaugurating the seminar the Industries minister said capital market could play a vital role in the development of industries and business of the country besides eradicating poverty from the society.
Arif Khan in his paper on equity financing said initial public offering (IPO) is a perpetual source of finance. In the era of free economy and democracy stock market provides an effective linkage between large pool of investors and entrepreneurs, he said.
