The International Crimes Tribunal-2 sought on Monday records of the criminal case filed in 1972 under the penal code against war crimes accused Afsar Hossain Chutu, a 1971 Muslim League leader of Chapainawabganj, reports UNB.
Passing the order, chairman of the tribunal Justice Obaidul Hassan asked the Chapainawabganj District and Sessions Judge and Superintendent of Police to submit the records before it within 10 working days.
The defence counsel told the tribunal that his client cannot be put on trial twice on the same offences as he along with other accused had been tried in 1972 under the penal code on the identical charges, referring to the cases filed with Shibganj Police Station.
Interrupting defence counsel Abdus Sobhan Tarafder, the tribunal asked him to place the records of the cases.
As the defence counsel failed to submit any record, the tribunal called for the records from the trial court.
