ICT clears 10 more of contempt charges

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 exonerated Tuesday 10 more eminent citizens from the charges of contempt of court as they pleaded for unconditional apology, reports BSS.
They are Dr Ali Reaz, Dr Parween Hasan, Dr Firdous Azim, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Dr Faustina Pereira, Tahmima Anam, Md Nur Khan Liton, Dr Samia Huq, Seuty Sabur and Sarah Tasnim Shehabuddin.
In a statement published in the daily Prothom Alo, 49 prominent citizens expressed concern after British journalist David Bergman was punished by the tribunal.
Earlier on February 23, the second tribunal exonerated 14 from the charges.
After exonerating 10 people from the contempt charges, the tribunal set March 18 for further hearing on the matter.
Bergman, now working for the daily New Age, got punishment for criticism of the trial process on his personal blog and demeaning the cort.
