ICT Expo 2015 kicks off in city

Aimed at showcasing the immense potentials of Bangladesh ICT industry, especially in the hardware sector, and expressing the vision of manufacturing segment, Bangladesh ICT Expo 2015 began in the city at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), reports BSS.
President Abdul Hamid raised the curtain of the three-day fair Monday noon.
State Minister for Post, Telecommunications & Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Imran Ahmad, MP, ICT secretary Shyam Sundar Sikder, and dignitaries from different sectors were present on the occasion.
With the theme of "Meet Digital Bangladesh", the exhibition is being organised by ICT Division, Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS).
Around 100 renowned international and local ICT brands, companies and more than 10 ministries are taking part in the exhibition with smartest ideas of information and communication life, cutting-edge technologies, ICT projects, programmes and initiatives of government and private sectors.
The participators are demonstrating their products and services with 54 stalls and 24 pavilions.
According to the organisers, around 10 seminars will be held on the occasion on matters like cloud computing, project management, e-governance, e-education, internet of things, road to digitisation.
Experts from the USA, China, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, India, Pakistan and host Bangladesh are scheduled to address the seminars.
Students of different universities are taking part in the expo with their self-invented ICT projects.
"This fair is quite different from the others, as selling products is not the prime matter of this event. We want to make the people familiar with the technology. We usually hold fairs like this by our own but this time, the government has joined us and it is a very promising thing," noted ICT expert Mustafa Jabbar told the news agency.
"Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in ICT sector. Particularly in the last six years, the government has created a new dimension and as a result of this, the knowledge of ICT has reached from grassroots to top level of the society," he added.
