The probe body of International Crimes Tribunals (ICTs), in its investigation, found seven counts of crimes perpetrated by Jamaat-e-Islami, its associate bodies and mouthpiece during the country’s Liberation War in 1971. “The investigation agency has completed the probe against Jamaat-e-Islami and its associate bodies,” said Chief Coordinator (CC) of the ICT investigation agency Md Abdul Hannan Khan at a press briefing in its Dhanmondi office in the city on Tuesday. He said Investigation Officer Md Matiur Rahman had carried out investigations on different allegations and found the involvement of Jamaat and its associate bodies in seven types of crimes, including crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes. Replying to a question, Hannan Khan said the Investigation Agency sought ban on Jamaat and its affiliates. “The government can ban Jamaat-e-Islami through an executive order. On the other hand, it could be banned through legal process,” he said adding that they have also sought confiscation of the wealth of the offenders. The probe report was submitted to the chief prosecutor of the ICT on Tuesday afternoon, according to UNB.
