ICT indicts Mahbub over RP Saha killing

A war crimes tribunal framed on Wednesday three charges against Md Mahbubur Rahman alias Mahbub of Tangail over crimes against humanity including the murder of Danbir Roy Bahadur Ranada Prasad Saha alias RP Saha during the Liberation War, reports BSS.
A three-member International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam framed the charges and set April 22 for submission of opening statement and recording deposition of prosecution witnesses.
Mahbub (69), who was a leader of Razakar Bahini, along with his family and cohorts allegedly carried out horrific crimes during the War of Liberation in his locality. He was present at the courtroom when the charges were framed.
According to the charge framing order, Mahbub is accused of carrying out attacks in different areas of Tangail and Narayanganj along with his father and local Peace Committee chief Wadud Moulana and brother Razakar Md Abdul Mannan.
At their instigation, Pakistani army gunned down 33 Hindus in Baimhati village, ancestral home of RP Saha, in Mirzapur of Tangail on May 7, 1971.
