IDCOL to install 1.0m SHSs, 10,000 biogas plants

Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has a plan to install 1.0 million Solar Home Systems (SHSs) and set up 10,000 biogas plants in the country this year, reports UNB.
Economic Relation Division Secretary Iqbal Mahmood disclosed this at a meeting with Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the latter's secretariat office Wednesday.
Mr Mahmood informed that they have so far installed 1.2 million SHSs in the country.
The board of directors of IDCOL handed over a dividend cheque for Tk 100 million as the government's holdings in the company to the Finance Minister.
The Minister appreciated the dynamism and good works of the IDCOL, saying: "It has done very well… we're proud that we're part of this organisation."
The Minister also assured of continued government support to the IDCOL and said this is good that IDCOL has a focus on renewable energy.
IDCOL Chief Executive Officer Islam Sharif said they generated revenue worth Tk 1.24 billion showing a 52.8 per cent growth in fiscal 2010-2011.
