IDCOL, USEA jtly organise CEA workshop

Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) and United States Energy Association (USEA) jointly organised a three-day workshop on Clean Energy Applications (CEA), under the South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy (SARI-Energy) programme of USAID, says a press release.
The workshop, which also includes a field visit to Gazipur, focuses on renewable energy, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas abatement options with emphasis on implementation of projects, through policy and regulatory measures as well as technology and market development.
Delegates from the south Asian countries of Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan are participating the workshop besides a host of local participants.
The participants will, during the course of the workshop, have the opportunity to identify potential actions and practices that might be further applicable to the power sectors.
An inaugural ceremony of the workshop was held at a local hotel Tuesday. Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Choudhury, adviser to Prime Minister, attended the occasion as the chief guest.
Denise Rollins, mission director, USAID, Bangladesh welcomed the participants to the workshop. Islam Sharif, executive director and CEO, IDCOL presented the keynote speech.
M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance addressed the ceremony as the special guest.
