Identified criminals kill man in Noakhali

Some local miscreants beat a man to death at Islamganj Bazar under Shudhram Police Station in Noakhali Sadar Upazila on Wednesday night. The dead is Nurul Amin, 40, son of late Suja Mian of Purba Durgapur of the Upazila. Police and locals said Nurul was having tea at a shop around 7:30pm. A gang of 14/15 identified miscreants, equipped with sharp weapons, swooped on him and tried to slaughter him there. People led by a former Union Parisahd member Monir Hossain, who were present on the spot, protected Amin from getting killed by the gangsters. As Amin, set free by UP member Hossain and others, tried to escape fearing of being caught again, the criminals, however, managed to capture him and beat him mercilessly in front of Kerani Bari, adjacent to Islamganj Bazar, leaving him dead on the spot, according to a news agency.
