IDLC, subsidiaries' half-yearly net profit up 70.1pc

IDLC and its subsidiaries recorded a half-yearly net profit of Tk 103.7 million (10.37 crore) from January 1 to June 30, which is 70.1 per cent higher than that of the corresponding period of the previous year.
IDLC's execution of lease and term loans during the period was Tk 1,866 million, which is 28.3 per cent higher than that of the corresponding period of the last year.
Its disbursement against real estate finance operation also saw a reasonable growth during the same period, said a press release.
The asset of the company and its subsidiaries, as of June 30 last stands at Tk 13.1 billion, posting a growth of 18.3 per cent over the year 2006.
The balance of term deposits, held by IDLC, was Tk 6.9 billion on June 30, 2007, which is 23 per cent higher than the balance of December 31, 2006.
IDLC Securities Limited (IDLCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, carrying out security brokerage business, started its operation in September 2006. During the first six months of 2007, IDLCSL recorded a net profit of Tk 16.94 million.
Another wholly owned IDLC subsidiary, I Cons Limited, which is in the business of information and communication technology (ICT), also recorded a net profit of Tk 0.88 million during the first half of 2007, the release added.
