If voted to power, BNP will build a 'rainbow nation', says Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if voted to power his party would build a 'rainbow nation' comprising people of all religions and ideologies in the country.
He made the remarks while addressing a meeting with the members of different religious communities at the party chairperson's political office at Gulshan in the capital on Friday afternoon.
"There're a handful of terrorists, who don't belong to any party. Whatever they (terrorists) tried, they couldn't spoil our communal harmony and bondage. And this time, it has also been proven that they (terrorists) tried but failed," he continued.
General Secretary of Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Oikya Parishad Rana Dasgupta said," We want to live with peace. We want to bring our talks to those who run the country. We want to build a democratic and non-communal Bangladesh unitedly as per the dream that led to our War of Liberation."
General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad and editor of Dainik Kalbela Santosh Sharma said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has assured that they (BNP) would consider it positively if the party voted to power.
"From now on we will work together forgetting the past," he said.
Meanwhile, President of Gonoadhikar Parishad Nurul Haque Noor and General Secretary Md Rashed Khan visited BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Friday night.
Begum Zia praised the role of youths in the recent student-people movement which led to resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister.
She hoped that the youths of the country would play a significant role in building the nation and moving the country forward.
She also lauded the role of Gonoadhikar Parishad in the anti- Sheikh Hasina movement.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) served on Saturday a show-cause notice on party chairperson's adviser Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu for disobeying party's ideology and principles.
He was asked to give reply within next 24 hours of serving the show-cause notice.
The show-cause notice signed by senior joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said," You ( Mr Dulu) made a comment that television and newspaper offices will be burnt if they broadcast or publish Sheikh Hasina's pictures and subsequently that comment was published in different newspapers including Prothom Alo, Daily Star, Ittefaq, Bangladesh Protidin, bdnews24, Dhaka Post, Jago News, Bangla Tribune and others".
"Your (Mr Dulu) comment goes against the ideology and principles of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal (or BNP)" the notice added.
"BNP is a liberal and largest political party in the country. The party never supports any terror activities and usurpation," it stated.
Mr Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that many party leaders and activists were tortured and oppressed by the fallen autocrat Sheikh Hasina regime during the anti-government movement over the last 15-16 years for restoring democracy in the country.
"Your comment has put a blot on the Renaissance of democracy and the victory of student and people's recent movement for ousting Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina," he maintained.
"Your comment is intentional and unwanted that goes against the spirit of BNP's ideology and principles and also tantamount to demeaning the party's constant democratic struggle over the last one and half decades," he stated.
The show-cause notice also asked the respondent (Mr Dulu) to reply in black and white to the party's Nayapaltan headquarters within the next 24 hours as to why organisational action should not be taken against him ( Mr Dulu).
