Bangladesh expressed the confidence that peaceful deliberations and diplomatic measures will ultimately lead to a mutually acceptable solution with regard to the presence of Indian Ships on Bangladesh's territorial waters, reports BSS.
"This year in September we began our talks with India on maritime boundary demarcation after a gap of 22 years," Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said when asked to comment on the reported survey by Indian ships on Bangladesh's territorial waters.
"We are confident that peaceful deliberations and diplomatic measures would ultimately lead to mutually acceptable solutions in this regard," Dr Iftekhar added, a foreign ministry press release Saturday said.
The foreign adviser further added that in the meanwhile, just as Bangladesh respects international norms in such situations, we expect and hope that all our neighbours will do the same. In this spirit, we have requested India to postpone the survey until such time a settlement on the subject is reached," he pointed out.
