IGP asks police to keep law and order

CHITTAGONG, Apr 25 (UNB): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandker has asked the members of Bangladesh Police to discharge their duties professionally to maintain law and order as well as in curbing criminal acts.
The IGP was addressing a meeting of the members of Chittagong Metropolitan Police at the Metropolitan Shooting Club field at Dampara Police Lines in the port city Friday.
Appreciating the brave role of police in the past, the IGP said members of police have sacrificed their lives in maintaining law and order. "This will inspire us to perform our duties in future."
He conveyed deep sympathy to the family of the police members, who sacrificed their lives, and also prayed for the departed souls.
The members of police, who attended the meeting, raised their various problems, including housing, lack of treatment facilities at the divisional police hospital and logistic support.
The IGP assured them of due consideration to their problems.
CMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam chaired the meeting. DIG of Chittagong Range Md Nowsher Ali and senior police officers of different units were present.
