IGP assures smooth Durga Puja celebrations

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker Tuesday assured the Hindu community members that they would celebrate Durga Puja unhindered as stringent security measures will be in place.
He gave the assurance when a team of Hindu community leaders met him at his office at Police Headquarters, according to a news agency.
During the meeting, the IGP said police have taken all-out security arrangements so the Hindu people can celebrate their largest religious festival in a festive mood as well as safely.
He said members of different law enforcement agencies will perform duties with alertness and consciousness to ensure security while making idols, celebrating puja and immersing idols.
