IGP for quick probe of children, bloggers murder cases

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Sunday asked officials concerned to complete the investigation of children and bloggers cases quickly.
He made the directives at a review meeting of bloggers and children murder cases at Police Headquarters conference room in the afternoon, a news agency report said.
Additional IGP (Special Branch) Dr Mohammad Zabed Patwari, Additional IGP (Administration) M Moklesur Rahman, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed, Additional IGP (Criminal Investigation Department) Sheikh Himayet Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner M Asaduzzaman Miah, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Operation) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, DIG (Crime) Helal Uddin Badri and representatives of various intelligence agencies were present at the meeting.
Shahidul Hoque asked officials to collect all related information of bloggers and freelance writers along with required security measures given to them.
He stressed on further coordination with other intelligence agencies about bloggers and future plan for their safety.
The meeting discussed the progress of recent Niloy killing along with other bloggers killings and reviewed security risk. It also discussed murder cases of Samiul Alam Rajon in Sylhet, Rakib in Khulna, Rabiul Islam in Borguna, Sumaiya Akter in Chandpur and Sukhi Begum in Dhaka elaborately.
However, police arrested accused persons in almost all cases along with confessional statements, the meeting was informed.
The IGP also advised officials to submit charge-sheets of all cases within shortest possible time, adding, "Murder and torture on children are not acceptable by any means."
