IGP inaugurates 'Open House Day' programme

SYLHET, Feb 10: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nur Mohammad, inaugurated the 'Open House Day' programme at Sylhet Kotwali police station Saturday.
He said in his speech as the chief guest that action would be taken, if allegation was found true against any police man and he would be shown no sympathy in this regard.
Addressing the inaugural function of 'Open House Day' at the Sylhet Kotwali police station Saturday afternoon, Nur Mohammad, said the main duty of the police was to secure the life and property of the countrymen and policemen would have to be more conscious and responsible over the issue.
Warning the lawmen, the IGP said police had to win people's trust through their activities. 'No excuse would be acceptable in this connection and persons against whom allegations would be made could not be released just saying that they had acted under such a limitation,' Nur Mohammad said.
Azam Khan, mayor in-charge of the Sylhet City Corporation, Abdus Salam, DIG of Sylhet range, Harunur Rashid Khan, deputy commissioner, Syed Taufiq Uddin Ahmed, acting commissioner in the Sylhet Metropolitan Police, and SM Ruhul Amin, superintendent of police, among others, addressed the inaugural function of the Open House day.
The IGP urged countrymen to come forward to solve minor problems locally and said besides the policemen the people would have to take responsibility.
Earlier the IGP also inaugurated the new building of the Goainghat police in the district yesterday noon.
