IGW and 1CX operators sign formal deals with GP

Sunday, 7 June 2009

IGW (International Gateway) operators Bangla Trac Communications Limited and NovoTel Limited formally signed separate agreements with Grameen Phone (GP) for routing international calls to and from GP subscribers and ICX (Interconnection Exchange) operators.
GETCO Telecommuni-cations Limited and M&H Telecom Limited also signed agreement with GP for routing domestic inter-operator calls and international calls to and from GP subscribers, said a press release.
In compliance with the ILDTS (International Long Distance Telecommunica-tions Services) policy 2007, all Mobile operators, including Grameenphone, have established the physical interconnection with ICXs & logical interconnection with IGW operators via ICXs.
Implementation of ILDTS policy has removed sole dependency on BTCL for International traffic business and introduced a competitive business environment through the addition of three IGW operators.
The ICXs serve as a Domestic and International Interconnection Hub for ANS (Access Network Service) operators. The IGWs serve as the International Voice Traffic Gateway and ensures delivery of all outgoing voice traffic to international destinations through International carriers.
At the same time the IGWs are also serving as an International traffic terminating gateway for GP's international incoming voice traffic. This Topology has been functioning since 24 August, 2008.
