Illegal fishing nets seized in Sunamganj

A mobile court in Sunamganj on Saturday seized illegal fishing nets worth Tk 65,000 from haor area in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila. The mobile court, led by executive magistrate and Sadar UNO Tahsina Begum, seized the fishing nets during a 1-hour-long drive from 1-2pm. Sensing the presence of the mobile court, some fishermen fled the scene leaving the fishing nets behind. Later, the seized nets were set on fire on the Sunamganj-Sylhet highway at Jangaon area in Sadar Upazila in the presence of district fisheries officer Sima Rani Biswas, according to UNB.
