ILO country chief visits shrimp plants in Khulna

Panudda Boonpala, director and head of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Bangladesh, has visited two shrimp processing plants and held meeting with the leaders of Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters' Association (BFFEA), Khulna region, recently.
The ILO country director expressed deep satisfaction over the activities of BFFEA in facilitating the working environment of labourers in shrimp processing industries in Bangladesh.
BFFEA leaders at the meeting apprised the ILO chief that BFFEA eliminated child labour from all shrimp processing industries with the help of the ministries concerned, introduced three shift working hours, issued ID cards to the permanent workers and took other measures.
BFFEA Vice President Sheikh Md Abdul Baki, directors S Humayun Kabir and Md Ferdous Alam, ILO (Dhaka) Programme Officer TIM Nurunnabi Khan, Modern Sea Food Industries Managing Director Md Rezaul Haque and South Field Fisheries Ltd Managing Director Khondaker Aynul Islam attended the meeting, among others.
