Imams play vital role in social-building process: speakers

As the leaders of influence, imams and olama mashaikh are playing vital role in the social building process alongside cutting various social curses and misconceptions, speakers at an Iftar party and doa mahfil said in Rajshahi on Tuesday. For the sake of expediting their laudable activities more the speakers, however, emphasised the needs for updating them with the modern and time-fitting knowledge. Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Mosadddique Hossain Bulbul hosted the meeting at the City Bhaban in honour of the city’s imams, muazzins and olama-mashaikh. Mayor Bulbul urged the religious leaders to create mass-awareness so that the society could be freed from various social crimes. ‘In heart and soul, we believe in peace and tranquility in the metropolis as a whole.’ He said the imams have a vital role to play for freeing the society from all sorts of social crimes especially sexual harassment and other anarchies through circulating the religious and social values effectively as they have social responsibilities, according to BSS.
