The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is likely to send a mission to Bangladesh next month to review the progress in the country's economic reforms under its credit support, said IMF resident representative Stella Kaendera Tuesday, reports UNB.
"We can say that the programme has gone well. We'll continue to work with the government," she said emerging from a meeting with Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at his office.
The government has taken up reform initiatives under the $ 1.0 billion credit from the IMF.
Kaendera said the government is carrying out a number of reforms and just like any other project, there are challenges.
"We think that the government is willing to address the challenges that they are facing," she said. She said a recent IMF review found that the government is confident on working on the reforms.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told journalists the IMF was satisfied with the performance of Bangladesh.
He said the fourth IMF review under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) found that Bangladesh has been on track in its reform programmes.
