Our CorrespondentbrCHITTAGONG, Sept 5 Implementation of the Halda Project for the restoration of fish breeding fields is possible.brSpeakers made this observation in a seminar on 'Preservation and Management of the natural breeding centre of the river Halda' at the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium in the port city Wednesday.brMember of the Planning Commission AMM Nasiruddin was present in the seminar as the chief guest.brChaired by Divisional Commissioner Hossain Jamil, the seminar was addressed, among others, by Deputy Director of the Directorate of Fisheries, Chittagong Division M Ali Azam, Syed Mahmudul Hoque, Prof Md Ali Azadi and Md Helaluddin.brNasiruddin said the task of dredging of the Halda River is under consideration. Those who are concerned with it would offer their views in this respect, he said. brThe population of the country increases by two million each year so the cultivation of fish must be increased to provide protein to those people, he added.brThe speakers underscored the need for augmenting the cultivation of fish for creating employment and also earn foreign currency.
