Implementation of minimum demand for working women recommended

National trade unions, human rights and women rights organisations, workers and labour rights organisations should come forward for the implementation of the 'common minimum demand' for all working women without making any difference of their workplace, occupation and designation, said a press release.
Speakers said this at a discussion meeting aiming to observe International Women's Day 2009 organised by Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) held in the city Friday.
The common minimum demand was formally announced. The list of demands expected the assurance of job and appointment, working hours, rest and leave, wages and social security, working environment, health and safety at workplace, security and respect for migrant women workers, protection against inequity, unpleasant behavior and sufferings, freedom of association and collective bargaining and ensuring the enlistment under the purview of labour law and legal protection.
Women leaders of the national workers federations and trade unions, human rights, women rights and labour rights organisations, journalists, lawyers, representatives of NGOs attend the function.
