Implementation of social compliance in RMG factories emphasised

CHITTAGONG, June 10: Implementation of social compliance in every ready made garment (RMG) factory is needed for making the garments industry stronger in the highly competitive global market.
Speakers expressed the above view at an opinion sharing meeting arranged by Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BKMEA) at its Chittagong office Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by the BKMEA President Fazlul Haque.
With a view to implementing compliance in every member factory, BKMEA has been regularly imparting training on compliance related issue to the social compliance officers beside its monitoring programme.
The meeting was arranged with the owners of Chittagong-based knitwear factories to inform them of compliance report and ensuring realistic solution.
The owners sought co-operation of BKMEA president in taking effective measures for resolving some basic problems including gas and power as well as toll collection by hoodlums and jhut relating terrorism in the industrial units.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by the CCCI Senior Vice-president MA Salam, BGMEA First Vice-president Md Nasiruddin Chowdhury and former senior vice-president Md Mahbub Ali, BKMEA Vice-president MA Baset and Director and Chairman on Standing Committee of Social Compliance Tazle Shameem Hossain.
