Import of Indian eggs protested

COMILLA, Sept 7 (UNB): Poultry farm owners formed a human chain at Padua Bazar on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Sadar South Upazila Sunday protesting the government's decision to import eggs from India.
Leaders of Bangladesh Poultry Farm Protection National Sangram Parishad, district unit, also addressed a rally after the human chain.
They condemned the official decision to import eggs from India, which are mostly affected by bird flu.
They called upon the government to withdraw its decision for protecting country's poultry sector and sought government assistance for sustaining this sector.
President of the association Abdul Malek Bhuiyan, General Secretary Anwar Hossain, Abu Taher, Gazi Sadekur Rahman, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Billal Hossain and Monir Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
