Important untapped energy source

An article on the subject, published recently in your pages, reviewed the potential of various alternative sources of energy and power. However, one very important readily available source was not mentioned which has always been avoided in Bangladesh.
This is 'human excreta', the solid waste, that can be centrally tapped and used as an important source for Methane gas, particularly in large urban areas where there are underground sewage piping system for disposal of toilet wastes.
Human solid toilet waste is an important source for obtaining Methane, an important fuel gas. However, this needs capital investment and can be done in areas like large public buildings or compounds where these are centrally piped for disposal.
Apart from capital costs, very little operational costs are involved. Further, the odourless solid residue left from the gas production process, mixed with waste-lubricating oil, grease, etc. can be pressed into solid fuel briquettes that can be used as solid fuel.
In next-door Thailand, all large public buildings, police barracks, hospitals, etc. convert this human waste to fuel gas and solid fuel briquettes. This greatly helps Thailand as they have no commercial natural sources of any solid, liquid or gaseous fuel in their country.
