Income tax realisation in Ctg makes record

CHITTAGONG, Dec 08: In three taxation regions of Chittagong, realisation of revenue on income tax head has increased by 209 per cent within a year, which is a record.
As a result of vigorous efforts made by the income tax department, such an achievement has been possible, sources said.
According to the sources, realisation of revenue in three tax regions of Chittagong was around Tk 280 million last year while it rose to around Tk 390 million as per recently-finished accounts.
The sources said, submission of income tax returns in the individual category has also increased to 22,040 in number during the period. The number of income tax payers (TIN-holders) of three regions of Chittagong is 2,69,166 of whom 1,70,018 submitted income tax returns. The number was 84978 last year.
Chittagong Taxation Zone sources said, awareness among the income tax payers has increased compared to previous years following a vigorous campaign; and at the same time, counselling centres set up at different points for the assistance of tax payers, helped augment realisation of revenue on income tax head in Chittagong.
