Incorporation of environ edn in curricula stressed

Speakers at a workshop Monday stressed the need for generating incorporation of environmental education in the educational curricula for awareness of the young students.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, secretary, ministry of education was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of the three-day sub-regional workshop held at BANBEIS Bhavan in the city.
Derek Elias, head of UNESCO Dhaka and country representative for UNESCO in Bangladesh, and Dr Abbas Sadri, director, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO), spoke on the occasion as special guest and guest of honour respectively.
Prof Md Mostafa Kamaluddin chaired the inaugural session.
Abdul Khaleque, secretary, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO delivered the welcome speech.
The workshop on "The Incorporation of environmental education in the education curricula for primary and secondary levels and revision of textbooks" was organised by Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and Ministry of Education in cooperation with ISESCO regional office in Tehran.
There were 20 participants from home and abroad in the workshop including representatives from ministry of education and primary and mass education, department of environment, directorate of primary education, NAEM, NCTB, directorate of secondary education.
