Increase influence through forming caucus: Dipu

The foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni Sunday called for the formation of women's caucus in the parliamentary orientation programme to increase their participation in decision-making.
"Women can increase their influence both inside and outside their parties through women's caucus", she said while speaking at a programme on "The Parliamentary Tradition" held at a city hotel.
The Chief Whip of the opposition Zainul Abedin Farroque also participated in the programme. He said a lively parliament would be ensured by the participation and presence of the opposition.
The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Col (Retd) Shawkat Ali. Whip Shagufta Yasmin, Advocate Sultana Kamal and Dr Lesley Clark, a former member of Queensland parliament in Australia were present in the programme.
The programme was organised by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Bangladesh Alliance for Women Leadership (BDAWL) and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
