Increasing BD shares in aviation mkt stressed

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said Saturday time has come to give due importance to make sustainable aviation sector and create competitive advantage for our businessmen to grab more shares in aviation market.
Mentioning the advancement of world aviation, he urged all operators to work together to increase Bangladeshi shares in the aviation market.
The minister was speaking at a discussion session on 'Aviation sector and its prospects and problems" as the chief guest, said a statement.
Aviation Operators Association of Bangladesh (AOAB) organised the discussion in the city.
President of AOAB Anjan Chowdhury presided over the discussion.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Khurshid Alam Chowdhury and Chairman Biman Bangladesh Airlines Air Marshal (retd) Jamaluddin Ahmed attended the discussion, among others.
The minister suggested all to create a good relationship between industry and regulators. He assured that government will extend all support to create a good environment for aviation operators and at the same time he reminded all to compliance the safety regulations. Regarding different charges, the minister said it would be looked into but operators should also pay their dues on time he suggested. Exporting aviation professionals could be good sources of earning foreign currency, he added and gave importance to the necessities of establishing proper training academies also.
Anjan Chowdhury said there is a huge opportunities in aviation sector and we need to recognise the problems and resolves those together.
AOAB is ready to work with policy makers and regulatory bodies to take the challenges to put forward aviation sector of the country, he said, while concluding the session, he added.
The meeting was conducted by AOAB Secretary General Masudur Rahmn and Wg Cdr (retd) ATM Nazrul Islam presented a keynote paper describing the purpose and objectives of the AOAB and depicting prospects and problems of aviation sector in the country.
The discussants of the meeting also pointed out that inadequate infrastructure, poor perception on aviation, inefficient bureaucracy and unnecessary administrative delays are the major hindrances for the growth of the sector.
