Indefinite bus strike in 3 dists begins

Tuesday, 8 April 2014

Transport workers enforced bus strike for an indefinite period on all routes of Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Dinajpur districts on Tuesday demanding a ban on plying of illegal shallow engine-run vehicles on the highways in the region. Nine associations, including Bus Owners’ Association, Transport Workers’ Union and Truck-Lorry Workers’ Union of the three northern districts jointly called the indefinite strike at a joint meeting on Monday evening. Khairul Alam, president of Thakurgaon Transport Workers Union, said they had decided to enforce an indefinite strike as the local administration failed to stop plying of human haulers like Nasimon, Karimon, Bhotbhoti, Easybike and Mahindra on the highways, according to UNB.
