RAJSHAHI, Sept 2 (UNB): Private bus owners association today (Wednesday) enforced an indefinite transport strike on all routes here demanding withdrawal of state-run BRTC buses.
The agitated transport workers beat up a driver and a helper of a BRTC bus at Talaimari in city at about 6am as the state-run bus entered into the city from Natore.
The angry transport workers also damaged several vehicles and hurled brickbats at running vehicles at different parts of the city for defying the strike.
They also put up road barricades at different points in the city since 6am apparently for preventing vehicles from plying.
The government recently decided to increase the number of BRTC buses on local routes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr that angered the private transport owners.
