Indefinite transport strike in Mymenisngh, Gazipur from Tuesday

Dhaka Divisional (North) Transport Owners-Workers Oikya Parishad on Monday called an indefinite strike from Tuesday in eight districts of greater Mymensingh to press home their seven-point demand, including the withdrawal of Netrakona deputy commissioner Dr Abul Kalam Azad. Convener of the parishad Aminul Haque Shamim announced the strike at a press briefing at the office of District Motor Owners’ Association in the afternoon. The other districts under the purview of strike are Netrakona, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Kishoreganj, Dhaka, Tangail and Gazipur. The other demands include imposing a ban on plying of unregistered vehicles, implementation of the agreement between Owners-Workers Oikya Parishad and government, taking steps to stop extortion by police, withdrawal of a provision under section 302, according to a news agency.
