India calls for restoration of democracy

India has called for early and full restoration of democracy in Bangladesh, Indian daily Hindu reports. Reacting to the arrest of immediate-past prime minister Khaleda Zia Monday, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said, "The early and full restoration of democracy, due process of law and respect for individual rights will contribute to the evolution of a stable, democratic and prosperous Bangladesh." — UNB
