India scored a formidable 196/5 against Bangladesh in their second Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda on Saturday, report agencies.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh faced an aggressive start from India's openers.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and veteran batsman Virat Kohli opened the innings with a blistering pace. Sharma scored a rapid 23 off just 11 balls before falling to Shakib Al Hasan.
However, Bangladesh's Tanzim Hasan Sakib provided crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Kohli, who scored a solid 37, and Suryakumar Yadav for 6, both within three deliveries.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant played a crucial role, scoring 36 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes.
The momentum was further accelerated by all-rounders Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya, who put on a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
