Thursday, 21 August 2008

Bangladesh requested India to form 'Official Supporting Committee' on Sundarbans for the unique mangrove forest's inclusion in new seven wonders of world nature, as the recognition process is now on, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) Chairman Shafiq Alam Mehedi made the request Wednesday, saying that the Sundarbans will not be recognised finally as one of the seven wonders unless India forms an official supporting committee on the world's largest contiguous forest.

The Sundarbans is currently holding the second position among the 77 nominees for selecting the new seven wonders of world nature.

A panel of experts will name the new seven wonders if the Sundarbans can secure place group of 21 finalist candidates.

Another natural beauty in Cox's Bazar, the longest unbroken sea beach of the world, currently is in the top position in the rankings of 77 nominees.

As the Sundarbans from Bangladesh extends into Indian territories so the countries must have official supporting committee on that.
