Indian bookie held in Bangladesh for 3rd time

Atanu Dutta, allegedly an Indian bookie, has been held for a third time in the span of only 10 days. His latest arrest was made at Mirpur Circle No 10 in Dhaka city on Sunday afternoon on the eve of Bengali New Year. The 40-year-old cricket bookie was previously arrested at Benapole border at Sarsa upazila in Jessore on April 3, when the World Twenty20 cricket tournament was being held Bangladesh’s different venues. However, he was freed after one day, only to be detained by Rab in Dhaka a couple of days later. He secured bail in the case filed by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) under the ICT Act. Dutta, from Dinesh Palli Municipal Park, South 24 Parganas district of India’s West Bengal state, came to Bangladesh on March 15. Police said he has been staying here illegally ever since his visa expired on Mar 31. Mirpur Police Station OC Salah Uddin said they will move the court on Monday to remand him for questioning, according to bdnews24.com.
