Indian fitness group opens outlet in city

VLCC, a leader in fitness services, launched Monday its operations in the city with a mission to fight against obesity. "We're happy to be here in Bangladesh to address the obesity related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension and others," Sandeep Ahuja, managing director of VLCC, told reporters. The diseases are originated from changing food habits and modern life style due to rising income of people in urban areas of Bangladesh, he said. Vice-president of International Business for VLCC Rajat Mathur and managing director of Expressions Ltd Ramendu Majumdar, among others, were present at the press briefing held at a city hotel. The press conference was followed by the launching ceremony of VLCC Bangladesh where MD of VLCC Sandeep Ahuja, fitness icon Adil Hossain Nobel, actress Diva Jaya Ahsan, Tafsir Mohammed Awal and Nasreen Fatema Awal were present. "We have a plan to invest about US$15 million in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the next 12 to 18 months. And of the total, 40 per cent will be invested in Bangladesh," said Sandeep Ahuja. He said the services which the VLCC are going to offer in Bangladesh include sliming beauty and fitness centre, hair and skin treatment. "We will start marketing of skin, hair and body care products in Bangladesh soon," the VLCC boss said.
