Indian HC opens condolence book on Abdul Kalam’s death

Indian High Commission in Dhaka will open a condolence book at the High Commission of India in city's Gulshan-1 for two days - Wednesday and Thursday - to allow personalities to make their remarks showing respect to departed Indian former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, reports UNB.
The condolence book will remain open from 10am to 5pm, said a press release on Tuesday.
As a mark of respect to departed dignitary Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, seven days of state mourning is being observed in India and by Indian Embassies/High Commissions abroad from Tuesday to August 2.  The funeral of Dr Kalam will be held in Rameshwaram today (Wednesday).
Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam passed away in Shillong Monday evening at the age of 83.
Meanwhile:  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock Monday at the death of former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
In a condolence message sent to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sheikh Hasina said, "We're deeply shocked at the sad demise of former president of India APJ Abdul Kalam, one of the most famous sons of India and a great scientific mind of his time. He was highly respected in Bangladesh as well."
Hasina further said, "In President Kalam, we saw the rare combination of a great statesman, an acclaimed scientist and a gifted writer. His invaluable contribution to India's rise in the sphere of science and technology would be remembered forever by all."
Another report adds: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Monday expressed profound shock at the death of former Indian president and nuclear scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
In a condolence message, Khaleda said, "As a nuclear scientist, ex-Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam engaged himself in the welfare of people."
