Indian hockey team take lead beating Bangladesh

SAVAR, Aug 6 (UNB): Visiting Indian hockey team took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series beating Bangladesh hockey team by 2-1 goals in the first match at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratishthan (BKSP) here Wednesday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder witnessed the match as the chief guest. Before the start of the game, the junior minister was introduced with the players of the two teams.
All the three goals came from penalty corners in a span of only three minutes.
Farhad Ahmed Shetul put hosts Bangladesh ahead in the 30th minute by a penalty corner, taken by Pushkar Khisha Memo (1-0).
Gurjinder Singh and Harjeet Singh scored two goals in a row in the 32nd and 33rd minutes respectively also from penalty corners, both taken by Gurmail Singh (2-1).
The remaining two matches of the series will be held on August 8 and 9 at the same venue.
Players of Bangladesh Under-23 football team, now undergoing training in BKSP for the ensuing Asian Games, were present at the filed to inspire the Bangladesh hockey team.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) invited the Indian hockey team to tour Bangladesh as part of their preparation for the next month's World Hockey League in Dhaka and as well as for the Asian Games Hockey in the South Korean city of Incheon from September 19 to October 4.
