Indian police detain Bangladeshi

Indian police arrested a Bangladeshi young man from Borochhara Bazaar in Meghalaya state of India on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Amir Hossain, 30, son of Kanchan Miah, a resident of Pahartali village of Tahirpur upazila in Sunamganj district. Subedar Abdus Salam, Commanding Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)’s Battalion-8 in Tekerhat said that local people of Borochhara Bazaar of India’s Meghalaya caught Amir when he along with his two associates Khokon Miah and Rajib Miah entered the Indian territory through Tahirpur border point in the morning. Later, they handed over Amir to Borochhara Police Station after giving him a beating while Khokon and Rajib managed to flee the scene. The BGB said they were trying to bring back Amir, according to UNB.
