Indian president pledges immense opportunities for German companies

NEW DELHI, Feb 6 (Xinhua): India has described Germany as its most important economic partner, and pledged "immense opportunities" for German companies willing to invest in this country.
"Indian companies are increasingly venturing into investments and acquisitions in Germany. India, in turn, sees immense opportunities for enhanced German investments in its physical infrastructure," Indian President Pranab Mukherjee said in his speech at a banquet hosted in honour of visiting German President Joachim Gauck at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the national capital Wednesday night.
"India also looks forward to the participation of the small and medium enterprises of Germany in India's growing consumer market," President Mukherjee added.
He has also said that bilateral trade between India and Germany was 17.5 billion euro (US$23.7 billion) in 2012, adding "there is much more potential to enhance commerce between the two countries," according to a statement issued by the Indian president's office Thursday.
