A four day-long Indian Textile Exhibition (ITEXPO) - 2008 begins tomorrow (Thursday) at the city's Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) displaying the latest range of textile products by leading manufacturers and exporters of the neighbouring country.
Textile Adviser Anowarul Iqbal is likely to inaugurate the exhibition while presidents of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association and High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh will attend as special guests.
The organisers disclosed this at a pres conference held at a city hotel Tuesday.
The Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) in association with High Commission of India is organising the fair in the city.
Indian manufacturers will display suiting, shirting, dress materials, embroidered fabrics, high fashion fabrics furnishings, home textiles, made up like scarves, stoles, shawls, laces and blended yarns.
The exhibition is intended to provide a unique opportunity to the textile and garment business community of Bangladesh to see the quality and range of Indian products.
It is expected that the fair might establish personal contacts with local entrepreneurs to have joint venture alliances with their Indian counterparts.
The IEXPO 2008 is being held concurrently with the second Dhaka International Fabric Show and the ninth TEXTECH, Bangladesh.
