Indian tomato seized in C\\\'nawabganj

An anti-smuggling task force in Chapainawabganj seized 3,500 kilograms of Indian tomato from Baroghoria village in sadar upazila on Thursday night. Acting on a tip off, the task force combined with a patrol team of 9 battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) led by executive magistrate Gonopati Roy raided the area and seized the tomatoes in an abandoned condition worth about Tk 350,000. The BGB sources added that the tomatoes were imported from India evading government taxes. The seized tomatoes were deposited with Chapainawabganj customs, the sources said. Nobody was arrested in this connection, according to a news agency.
