A Dhaka court has set May 11 for hearing on charge framing in a case lodged against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for observing fake birthday on August 15, which is the National Mourning Day, reports BSS.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur adjourned the hearing until May 11 during the hearing on Wednesday as the defence counsel pleaded to allow them time in the case.
On August 30 in 2016, Journalist Gazi Zahirul Islam filed the case against the BNP chief for celebrating the fake birthday on the National Mourning Day.
According to the case documents and SSC mark sheet, the birthday of BNP chief is September 5, 1946. During her tenure as Prime Minister, a national daily published an article on her life writing August 19, 1945 as Khaleda's birthday.
In her marriage certificate, Khaleda Zia's birthday was given as August 4, 1944, while it is on August 5, 1946 as per her passport information. But, August 15 has not been mentioned anywhere as her birthday.
